Transitional Council determines its position on call for southern dialogue in Riyadh

The Southern Transitional Council welcomed the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to sponsor a Southern Dialogue, stressing that this invitation represents a practical translation of the approach that the Council has adopted since its establishment, which relies on dialogue as the only rational means of resolving political issues, at the forefront of which is the question of the peoples of the South and their right to restore their state.

The Council indicated, in a statement published on Sunday, January 4, 2026, that, in the interest of the cause of the peoples of the South, it was present in the various dialogue stations sponsored by the Kingdom and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, from the Riyadh Agreement of 2019, through the Riyadh consultations of 2022, to its sponsorship of the Global Dialogue of the South which led to the adoption of the National Charter of the South in 2023, which reflects its ongoing commitment to dialogue. and political accountability.

The statement affirmed that the Transitional Council considers the Saudi call as in line with what was included in its political declaration issued on Friday, January 2, 2026 and its continued efforts to obtain serious regional and international sponsorship for the issue of the peoples of the South, ensuring a fair and lasting treatment of it in accordance with the aspirations of the peoples of the South.

The Council highly appreciated the Saudi invitation, considering it a real opportunity for a serious dialogue that protects the future of the South, preserves its security and stability and ensures the realization of the aspirations of the peoples of the South.

He stressed that any serious dialogue must begin with the recognition of the will of the peoples of the South, within a specific time frame and with all international guarantees, stressing that the free popular referendum of the peoples of the South is the decisive factor for any future political proposal or solution.
